Makerere Art Gallery houses a rich collection of visual art since 1940 by students and staff of MTSIFA.  Because several artists in East Africa and beyond have had their art training at Makerere, this Gallery is of more than local significance.  Students, researchers and academics who wish to know about trends in East African Art have consulted this gallery from time to time.

In the past decade, academic staff have presented some of their visual reasearch outcomes in the Gallery during the “Different But One” annual art and design exhibition series. Yet the 'Best of Me' art and design exhibition showcases the outstanding art and design works by final year students.

Today Makerere Gallery runs changing art exhibitions by and shades of artists – accomplished armateur as well as School Childrens’ work.
